I Smell a Road Trip
August 22, 2007
Your boyfriend just declared he wants to “take a break,” while your boss recently mentioned things weren’t working out. Well, at least you have your health, right?
When it comes to the basics, health insurance now lies somewhere between sleeping and eating. Or is it, after eating but before shelter? Either way, it’s darn important. That’s where The Basics Fund comes in. It’s a non-profit charity dedicated to supplying health insurance for artists.
While raising money for the cause, The Fund simultaneously attempts to popularize local art events. Using a retired girl’s volleyball bus, (soon to be run on veggie oil) it hosts local “bus parties,” where art lovers are soberly transported to and from events (including concerts).
Mark your calendars, cause the first and last Fridays of every month are now officially booked. The “Worland Warriors” bus picks up in Boulder and Denver for The First Friday Art Walk on Santa Fe. And, it even takes you to the Art In The City after party, which gets going after the galleries close. Final Fridays consist of “NightLite” at BMoCA (Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, for those not in the know) and “Untitled” at the Denver Art Museum.
So, if helping artists isn’t enough to entice you (you’re a @$*#, just kidding), perhaps the on board keg and grill will be.
Don’t forget the hot dogs! See you on board.
