Netflix’s new fantasy saga, adapted from the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, has a lot going on. One area where it falls down quite seriously is in giving newcomers the lay of the land. Game of Thrones’s ingenius step was to do this in a very literal sense by repurposing the opening credits as an idiot’s guide to Westeros via its clockwork map.
